This is one of the cheapest, easiest, and fastest (labor time) mods you can do that will increase your engine's power by just a bit. The factory overboost protection valves are not really necessary, they are more of a failsafe incase your wastegate was to fail. But I have to say, seriously if your wastegate is in bad enough condition to fail you should be focusing on that first! These valves commonly go bad and create a constant annoying chirping sound and kill your power by letting your prescious boost right back out. That's just mean, so we offer this nice solution to save the boost we work so hard for. These are also necessary with a turbo upgrade or wanting to run more than 8psi of boost.
